Hull University Library has a collection of documents relating to Pennington family property in the East Riding, centred on Warter.
Hull DDWA/6/61 is the sale of the manor, rectory, advowson & estate of Warter by John Stapylton Esq. of Warter (son & heir of the late Sir Philip Stapylton of Warter) to Sir William Pennington of Muncaster, for £3,000 down + £3,000 later, and as part of the settlement on marriage between Sir William and Dame Isabel, John's eldest daughter.
Other estates were acquired (mostly around the 1770s by Sir Joseph Pennington) at Dunnington, Grimston, Nunburnholme etc. Sir Joseph, with Lowther Pennington Esq. & John Pennington Esq. was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for the East Riding & Hull on 10 July 1779.

Calendar of Papal Letters v9, 480-481: memo from the inhabitants of Eschdale to Pope Eugenius IV, claiming that their homes were more than 10 miles from the parish church (sancte Bigie / St. Bees) and asking for parish church status for their chapel.
