THE ESKDALE PROJECT!!
I've been interested in Eskdale and Miterdale since I first visited Stanley Ghyll House as a child. Many people have written about aspects of the area's history, but only information techology can begin to make the mass of source material easily available. For example, the materials gathered by Eskdale's greatest historian, Miss Mary Fair, are scattered halfway across the country, with different portions of the same document sometimes appearing in different places.
This Eskdale project is ambitious, and long-term. It should culminate in the writing of a narrative history of the valley, but that is far in the future. For the time being, I am just establishing a framework for the story, and presenting the materials I find, for others to use if they wish.
